I joined Hays as a Recruitment Consultant in 1998 in London and had not intended to work in recruitment but soon realized that the role ticked all the boxes for me in terms of what I was looking for in a career – a chance to work with a variety of clients to really understand their culture and at the same time, to be able to engage with candidates, find the perfect match & build long-term relationships with both. After a few years in Hays London, I decided that I wanted to try working in Europe and Spain was an ideal destination. It coincided with the launch of Hays Spain in Madrid and I was lucky to be part of the team to build out that business and after 2 years, was managing our Madrid office. After 7 years in Madrid, an opportunity arose to move to Paris and to manage our Finance and Banking Teams there. In 2012 I moved back to Spain to manage our Regional offices. I became Managing Director of Hays Netherlands in October 2023. My career in Hays has been a roller-coaster ride of learning, working with multi-cultural teams and often being out of my comfort zone but at the same time supported by my colleagues with training and coaching to get to the next step. One of our core values which I think sets us apart is that we do the right thing, we work with people and change the lives of our candidates, whilst transforming companies. I never take that for granted.
